About Joseph Dalessio
Growing up in Rome influenced my approach to photography. Both as a fashion photographer based in Los Angeles, whose photographs appeared in Time and Elle to name a few, and a veteran of numerous Ad campaigns while simultaneously creating fine art images. Juxtaposed in the sensual decay of ancient Roman architecture, ironically coexisting harmoniously with the precise modernism of Italian design, driven by drama, humor, zest and adventure of the Italian spirit. These two collections, Terra Nova and Allgero, exemplify that spirit and stories of harmonious dichotomy, the origins are my photographs which have undergone a process of deconstruction and manipulation. Terra Nova finds conflict and resolution in the rhythm of an asymmetrical realm, gritty decay enhanced textures and muted tones. Allegro exemplifies a complex world of precise sensuality, ultra colors, clean lines, highways of light which lead to emotional exuberance chaotic intricate and exact. A universe where opposites attract, where the sensual strut of conflict and harmony sing.
The two collections complement each other, two sides of the same coin, different but the same, flourishing in a graphic design daydream.
